Hello,

this morning on my way to work I was listening to an interesting radio-program on BBC-RFI. It was an Interview with Professor Gary Hamel from the London Business School. He teaches and does research on strategic management. The interview gave an insight in changes of management and decision-making in big and small companies. The trend and importance of the concept “wisdom of crowds” was pointed out and he outlined the possibility of option-based decision-processes in companies including employees.

That means that companies or their management point out scenarios or potential growing paths and the employees buy options on their favorite option and profit later on the possible pay-off.
From his point of view important for a successfull future was also the ability to change and include ideas from every level and every kind of employee of a company. Interesting was the comment of the role of management which he sees more in the role of an editor of ideas or strategies created inside organisations than the office of strategy. Furthermore he thinks that the most important task of management is to teach the employees how to be active.

Got curious? Listen to it yourself!

Book: “Future of Management” by Gary Hamel
-> If somebody already read it, please let me know or leave a comment…I will appreciate it!
